Randolph Telephone Company was brought into the 20th century under the vision of W. Morgan Fitzgerald, who saw an opportunity to provide telephone service to the Liberty, North Carolina area. It was a need that other communications conglomerates were reluctant to fill being that it was in a rural area that would see high operational costs for meager profits. However, area residents would be at a loss without these services being made available to them and their local businesses.

Over a number of years, Mr. Fitzgerald and his staff worked hard to build a communications network here. However, by 1994, he was ready to retire. Randolph Telephone Membership Corporation recognized the similarities in Randolph Telephone Company’s purpose for existence, for it too was established by members of the community who brought communication and technology to themselves due to the lack of initiative on the part of large communications companies near by. Purchasing Randolph Telephone Company just made sense in order to broaden its reach into the rural communities of Randolph County.

Today, Randolph Telephone continues to bring that same quality of service and reliable, cutting edge technology to help promote growth and to keep our community connected to the world. As a matter of fact, 100% of our customers are able to get DSL internet service, which is not something that many other telephone companies can tout.
